On September 24, 2020, the Secretariat of Economy (SE) published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the following information:

• Objective of the Project

This Official Mexican Standard establishes the characteristics and general and particular security requirements that information technology equipment and its associated equipment must meet, as well as office equipment, that are imported, commercialized, distributed or leased , in the territory of the United Mexican States, with the purpose of preventing dangers for consumers and their goods, in terms of the absence of unacceptable risk of damage, depending on the properties of use of the equipment or systems, avoiding the wrong reasonably foreseeable use, when its installation, conservation and use correspond to the purpose for which they are intended.

• Field of application – Equipment in the field of application of this Official Mexican Standard

This Official Mexican Standard applies to information technology equipment and associated equipment, which use electricity from the public service for their power supply, as well as other energy sources, such as cells, batteries, accumulators, self-generation and alternative power sources.

This Official Mexican Standard also applies to information technology equipment and associated equipment:

1. Designed to be used as telecommunications terminal equipment and telecommunication network infrastructure equipment, whatever the power source used.

2. Designed and intended to be connected directly to, or to be used as infrastructure equipment in, a cable distribution system, whatever the power source used;

3. Designed to use the alternating current power supply network as a means of communication transmission.

4. To components and subsets planned for incorporation into information technology equipment and associated equipment.

This Official Mexican Standard can be applied to electronic parts of equipment even if such equipment does not fully fall within the scope of this Official Mexican Standard, for example, large-scale air conditioning systems, fire detection systems and extinguishing systems. of fire. Different requirements may be necessary for certain applications.
