June 2, 2020 – Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on May 27, 2020, that it has launched an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain hot‑rolled carbon steel heavy plate and high‑strength low‑alloy steel heavy plate originating or exported from Taiwan, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia, and Turkey.
The investigation follows a complaint filed by Algoma Steel Inc.
Subsequently, on May 28, 2020, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) gave notice that it has initiated an injury inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping of the heavy plate has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers.

Parties wishing to participate in the preliminary injury inquiry must file a notice of participation with the CITT on or before June 9, 2020.
