Government of Canada Initiates SIMA Inquiry on Oil Country Tubular Goods 3

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on June 30, 2021, that it has launched an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain oil country tubular goods originating in or exported from Mexico.

The investigation follows a complaint filed by Evraz Inc. NA Canada (Regina, SK) and Welded Tube of Canada Corp. (Concord, ON).                               

Subsequently, on July 2, 2021, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) gave notice that it has initiated an injury inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping of said product has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers.

Parties wishing to participate in the preliminary injury inquiry must file a notice of participation with the CITT on or before July 13, 2021.
