EU steel and aluminum Section 232 TRQs are extended for 2 Years

President Biden issued Executive Orders extending Tariff Rate Quotas (TRQs) on imports of European Union (EU) origin aluminum and steel that exempt them from additional Section 232 duties from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025.

The aggregate TRQ volume remains at the same restraint levels as in 2021.

  • Aluminum: 18,000 metric tons of unwrought aluminum and 366,040 metric tons of semi-finished wrought aluminum.
  • Steel:  3.3 million metric tons.

Aluminum TRQs are biannual, and steel TRQs are quarterly, see CSMS 58914518.

Aluminum articles enter the TRQ using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers

9903.85.25 through 9903.85.44. A certificate of analysis is required.

Steel articles enter the TRQ using HTS numbers 9903.80.65 – 9903.81.19. A mill analysis or test certificate is required, and the steel must be melted and poured in the EU.
