Mexico announces internal regulations changes for three government departments

On December 22nd, the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) published modifications to its internal regulations regarding customs administration in Mexico, as well as internal regulations related to the New Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) in the Federal Official Gazette (DOF). This news is important for importers and exporters; it helps them avoid fines and penalties.

Among the internal regulatory changes is the news that border customs coordination will now be handled by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), while maritime customs will be handled by the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), and interior customs will be the responsibility of ANAM.

These regulatory changes took effect on January 1st, 2022.
