EU and UK Section 301 Duties Suspended for Five Years

The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) suspended additional Section 301 duties of 15 to 25 percent on European Union (EU) and United Kingdom (UK) origin product for five years.  These were referred to as ‘Airbus’ or ‘Large Civil Aircraft’ duties, based on a dispute filed with the World Trade Organization (WTO).

In March 2021 Section 301 additional duties were suspended for four months, with subject UK origin goods suspended through July 3, 2021, and subject EU origin goods suspended through July 10, 2021.

The new suspension effective dates are July 4, 2021 for UK origin goods; and July 11, 2021 for EU origin goods. Chapter 99, Subchapter III, Note 21 in the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) will be updated to reflect that additional UK and EU Section 301 duties shall not apply as of these dates.
