Chile now a partner in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)

Chile recently completed its ratification of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and the Agreement entered into force for that country on February 21, 2023.

As of this date, eligible goods from Chile will benefit from duty reductions under the CPTPP preferential treatment.  Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has published Customs Notice CN23-03 to inform industry of the changes.

The CPTPP agreement is between Canada and 10 other countries in the Asia-Pacific: Australia, Brunei, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam. Brunei is currently the only country yet to ratify the agreement.
