CFIA amends Maple Products Regulations

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has amended the Maple Products Regulations in order to facilitate the trade of maple syrup with the United States and reduce consumer confusion by responding to consumer needs with regard to grade names and colour classes.

The amendments standardize different grades and colour classes of maple syrup and takes steps to create a harmonized definition and grading system among the United States and Canada.
