CFIA Advisory on the Benefits of Adding Additional Establishment Information in My CFIA

November 8, 2019 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) would like to encourage all food businesses that have a valid Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence to fill out additional establishment information through My CFIA. The data collected will feed into an Establishment-based Risk Assessment (ERA) model which will be used to assign establishments with a risk level. This will allow the Agency to determine the appropriate level of oversight that is required for your establishment’s specific food related activities.

The questionnaire can be accessed by signing into My CFIA. Establishments should enter information about their operational activities including how risk is controlled at their establishment.

The Profile Manager can enter the additional establishment information at any time by selecting the link located on their My CFIA profile dashboard. Establishments must hold a valid SFC licence. Before starting, it is recommended that the Profile Manager consult their quality assurance or food safety personnel and review their Safe Food for Canadians licence to ensure all declared activities and commodities are accurate. For assistance with the questionnaire, please refer to the checklist and fact sheet.
