Livingston International creates new position to reflect its regulatory affairs expertise; names Candace Sider to role

TORONTO, Canada – Importers and exporters rely on Livingston International to stay ahead of the risks and opportunities created by the constantly evolving regulatory changes impacting global trade, compliance and risk management. To better reflect the company’s integral role in regulatory affairs for its clients, Livingston has appointed Candace Sider to the newly created position of Vice President, Regulatory Affairs Canada.

Sider will be responsible for developing and implementing government affairs strategy, as well as the overall management of Livingston’s political engagement with federal and provincial officials, regulatory agencies and key policymakers. She will be Livingston’s primary representative with the Canada Border Services Agency, focused on regulatory changes that impact global trade, compliance and risk management.

Sider, who has been with Livingston since 2007, is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and seminars about trade facilitation and cross-border strategies. She represents Livingston and trade on the Border Customs Consultative Committee (BCCC) and several of its high-level committees. She is the past chair and a current board member of the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers, and managing director and treasurer on the board of the International Federation of Customs Brokers Association.

As a registered lobbyist with the Government of Canada, Sider helps shape the policies and procedures governing trade in an evolving marketplace. She has authored various articles and technical papers for trade publications, and is a regular author of Livingston’s Trade News, white papers and contributes to a regular blog about regulatory issues. Sider also represents Livingston with the media on government and regulatory issues.

She is a certified customs specialist, certified trade compliance specialist and has been a licensed customs broker since 1986. She also completed the executive management program at the Degroote School of Business at McMaster University in Hamilton. Sider is a member of the Professional Pricing Society, I.E. Canada, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Canadian Produce Marketing Association, AmCham, and CANAM Border alliance.
