US – CANADA BORDER: Construction Update for CBP Facility at Rouses Point, N.Y.; Alternative Crossing will be Necessary for Some

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced the inspection facility at the Rouses Point, NY, border crossing will be operating on a limited basis from May 24th to June 10th. On-going construction activities require all commercial and oversized vehicles, including vehicles towing a boat or trailer, to use an alternate crossing route.

CBP Acting Port Director Steven Bronson indicated they expect normal processing to resume at the Rouses Point border crossing on June 10th.  Until that resumption, CBP requires all commercial and oversized vehicles, including vehicles towing a boat or trailer, to use an alternate route to avoid any unnecessary delay during this final stage of construction.

CBP advised commercial vehicles can enter the U.S. at the Champlain Port of Entry further west by taking Quebec 202 west to Route 15 south.

Oversized vehicles and vehicles with something in tow may use the Overton Corners and Champlain ports of entry. Overton Corners is 1.5 miles away from Rouses Point and is the closest alternative. When approaching Rouses Point from Canada on Quebec 223, travelers can head west on Quebec 202, then south on Quebec 221 to arrive at the Overton Corners Port of Entry.

CBP will provide another update when the construction project is complete.
