On February 24, 2026, the Government of Canada released PC 2026-0145, Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Remission Order which is scheduled for publication in the Canada Gazette, Part II, on March 11, 2026. A customs notice issued by CBSA is expected to follow shortly thereafter.
The order remits the surtax paid or payable on subject goods under the Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Order.
Importers must determine whether the goods are eligible under the conditions set out in the order, which is divided into the following four categories:
- Public health, public safety and national security
- Health care
- Wind towers
- Goods listed in Schedule 2 of the order
