The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is reminding stakeholders that the final phase of the implementation of the modernized feeds regulations is coming into force in December 2025.
The Feeds Regulations, 2024 (FR24) were published on July 3, 2024, with a staggered coming into force period. After December 17, in most cases, an imported livestock feed must be registered or imported by a license holder.
The following four sections of the Feeds Regulations, 2024 will come into effect on December 17, 2025:
- Licensing requirements
- Expanded scope of livestock species
- Export certificates and documentation
- Import of non-compliant feed
