The following are recent changes to the U.S. Surtax Remission order as provided in the December 2025 update to Customs notice 25-19: United States Surtax Remission Order (2025):
- The surtax remission granted for steel goods listed in Schedule 2 of the United States Surtax Order (Steel and Aluminum), that are used in the manufacture or processing of any good, in the production of any agricultural product or in the packaging of a food product or beverage, has expired as of January 31, 2026. 25% surtax is payable as of February 1, 2026. This, as detailed in paragraph 14 a. (a.02) of Customs Notice 25-19.
This Surtax remission remains in effect until June 30, 2026, for goods listed in Schedule 1 (Aluminum) of the United States Surtax Order (Steel and Aluminum), as outlined in paragraph 14 a. (a.01) of Customs Notice 25-19.
- Effective February 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026, remission is granted of the 25% surtax payable on goods of Schedule 1 & Schedule 2 of the United States Surtax Order (Steel and Aluminum) that are used in:
- the manufacture of motor vehicles or chassis for motor vehicles or in the manufacture of parts of or accessories for motor vehicles or chassis for motor vehicles; or
- aircraft, ground flying trainers or spacecraft or in parts of aircraft, ground flying trainers or spacecraft.
