The Mexican Mining Chamber and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico disapproved of the disappearance of the Undersecretariat of Mining.

The Mexican Mining Chamber (CAMIMEX) and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CANCHAM) disapproved of the disappearance of the Mining Undersecretariat.

“We respectfully express our deep disagreement over the disappearance of a strategic organ for the economic recovery that our country needs,” they said in a joint statement.

“The Undersecretariat of Mining has an indispensable role for transformation, it has served as an example to other sectors to show that close collaboration and the sum of wills can strengthen an industry that fully fulfills its commitment to Mexico and Mexicans by being socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable and fiscally responsible”, they added.

The statement was also signed by the Association of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico (AIMMGM); the Mining Clusters of Chihuahua, Guerrero, Sinaloa, Sonora and Zacatecas; the College of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico (CIMMGM), and the organization Mujeres en la Minería-WIM México.
