Global Affairs Canada advises of the 2016-2017 Tariff Rate Quotas (TRQ) for Wheat, Barley, Wheat products and Barley products imports subject under the import controls list will become accessible August 1, 2016.
The 2016-2017 Wheat products and Barley products tariff rate quota (TRQ) at the within access commitment tariff opens on August 1,, 2016 which attracts lower rate of duty. Once the tariff quota is exhausted the over access commitment level at the higher rate of duty will apply thereafter.
The TRQs for wheat and barley are administered on a first come, first served basis. The following annual (August 1 to July 31) TRQ levels apply:
wheat 226,883 tonnes;
barley 399,000 tonnes;
wheat products 123,557 tonnes (grain equivalent);
barley products 19,131 tonnes (grain equivalent).
Wheat TRQ
Imports of wheat products classified under Customs Tariff headings: 11.01, 11.03, 11.04, 11.08, 11.09, 19.01, 19.02, 19.04, 19.05 and 23.02.
Barley TRQ
Imports of barley products classified under Customs Tariff headings: 11.02, 11.03, 11.04, 11.07, 11.08, 19.01, 19.04 and 23.02.
Imports of wheat, barley, wheat products and barley products is covered by Items 161 to 191 of the Import Control List (ICL)
