Tariff preferences applicable to heavy vehicles of the Economic Complementation Agreement No. 55 (ACE55)

On August 11th, the Secretariat of Economy (SE) published on the official website of the National Commission for Regulatory Improvement (CONAMER) the agreement that discloses the tariff preferences applicable to heavy motor vehicles, corresponding to trucks, lorries- tractors and chassis with motor and cabin, with a total weight greater than 8,845kg, and complete buses, chassis with motor and bodies with buses, respectively.

Likewise, a transition schedule to free trade is added as an Annex to this Agreement, applicable to imports from the Federative Republic of Brazil of heavy motor vehicles, which will last for 3 years (2020-2023), with growing preferences.

In addition to, “New automotive products”, vehicles with a total weight with a maximum load less than or equal to 8,845 kg (light commercial, chassis with engine and cabin and bodies for those vehicles, trucks and chassis with engine and cabin) launched commercially between the 1st April 2018 and December 31, 2019, will have a period of 30 months to reach the current Regional Content Index of 40%. This period will start from the date of commercial launch of the product.
