Provisional SIMA duties now payable on certain unarmoured building cable from China

On July 29, 2026, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) made a preliminary determination of dumping and subsidizing with respect to imports of certain unarmoured building cables (UBC) originating in or exported from China.

As a result of the determination, provisional duties under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) are now payable on imports of subject goods that were released on or after July 29, 2026.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will now initiate an inquiry to determine whether the dumping of the subject goods have caused injury or are threatening to cause injury to domestic producers.
