Provisional Duty Now Being Assessed on Certain Concrete Reinforcing Bar 3

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced that Provisional Duties are now payable on certain concrete reinforcing bar released from Customs on or after February 4, 2021.

For a detailed product description, including exclusions of the subject goods, refer to Appendix 1 of CBSA’s Notice of Preliminary Determination.

The concrete reinforcing bar is usually classified under HS codes 7213.10.00.00 & 7214.20.00.00 and in some instances under HS codes 7215.90.00.90 & 7227.90.00.90.

Subsequently to CBSA determination, the CITT gave notice on February 5, 2021, that it had initiated an inquiry to determine whether the dumping and subsidizing of the above-mentioned goods have caused injury or retardation or are threatening to cause injury to domestic producers as determined under the Special Import Measures Act.
