Mexico exports more auto parts in value than light vehicles

The export of auto parts from Mexico to the United States exceeds the value of shipments abroad of light cars by 1.3 times and the revenue from the export of trucks and tractors by 5 times, according to data from the National Auto Parts Industry (INA ) to which El Financiero had access.

The INA revealed that in 2019 exports of parts and spare parts for vehicles manufactured in Mexico and exported to the American Union reached a value of 70 thousand 500 million dollars, while in the same concept the entries for shipments of light vehicles and Tractor trucks shipped to the United States reported revenues of 54,799 million and 14,1164 million respectively.

In Mexico there are auto parts manufacturers such as the Mexican companies Vitro, Nemak, Condumex, Metalsa and Rassini, as well as Continental, Delphi, Bosch and Yazaki.

Worldwide, Mexico currently has 13 free trade agreements with 52 countries, which allows it to export 3.3 million cars a year and 81 billion dollars a year of auto parts to different nations. Specialists explained that the manufacture of auto parts in Mexico has gained relevance because it is a country with cheap labor, which allows building higher value vehicles for both companies and consumers.
