On August 17, 2026, the CBSA announced the launch of a SIMA investigation respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of paperboard cups and containers originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China. The investigations follow a complaint filed by Great Pacific Enterprises Limited Partnership (Genpak).
Subsequently, on August 18, 2026, the CITT initiated a preliminary inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping and subsidizing of said goods has caused injury or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers. The CITT is scheduled to make their determination no later than October 16, 2026.
