Government of Canada Initiates SIMA Inquiry on grinding media

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on December 17, 2020, that it has launched an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of certain grinding media, originating or exported from India.

The investigation follows a complaint filed by Magotteaux Limittée.                                

Subsequently, on December 18, 2020, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) gave notice that it has initiated an injury inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping and subsidizing of certain grinding media has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers.

The subject goods are classified under HS codes 7325.91.00.10 & 7325.91.00.90. HS codes are listed for convenience of reference only. Refer to the product definition for the authoritative details regarding the subject goods.

Parties wishing to participate in the preliminary injury inquiry must file a notice of participation with the CITT on or before December 30, 2020.
