On June 8, 2016, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that it had launched an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain gypsum board originating in or exported from the United States of America, imported into Canada for use or consumption in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
The investigation follows a complaint filed by CertainTeed Gypsum Canada Inc. (Mississauga, Ontario), who alleges that jobs, profits and productivity in Canada are being harmed by the sale of these goods.
The goods in question are usually classified under Harmonized System classification number 6809.11.00.10.
Importer responses to CBSA’s Request for Information are due by June 29, 2016.

Concurrently On June 9, 2016 the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) gave notice that it has initiated an inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping of certain gypsum board being investigated by CBSA, has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers.
Parties wishing to participate in the preliminary injury inquiry must file a notice of participation with the Tribunal on or before June 21, 2016.
