FWS Issues Electronic Licensing System Alternative for Wildlife Importers and Exporters

The Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) announced of their new Electronic Import Export License (eLicense) program used to request new import/export license or amend/renew existing ones. It may be used by importers, exporters, brokers, freight forwarders or individuals as an alternative to the paper FWS 3-200-3a Import/Export License for U.S entities, and the FWS 3-200-3b Import/Export License for foreign entities.

They note this is separate from any FWS issued permits.

Many Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are available on topics such as ‘Which animals are exempt from I/E License requirements’, ‘I ship internationally for scientific or educational purposes’, or ‘I am a foreign supplier shipping to a U.S. importer’, What costs will I incur to using eLicense’, or ‘What are the advantages of using eLicense?

FWS will continue to accept and process traditional paper applications submitted to an FWS wildlife inspection office or an Office of Law Enforcement Permits Office.
