Ford starts production of the Bronco Sport SUV at its Hermosillo plant

With a 70% contribution from Mexican engineering, Ford Motors Mexico started manufacturing the Bronco Sport SUV at the plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, for which the automaker is ready to supply the growing demand for 4x4s to the US market and soon to the rest of the world.

“It is a pride that Mexico builds this product, a launch that marks a milestone for us, since not only is a new SUV being produced, but it comes with a legacy of more than 60 years,” said Héctor Pérez, CEO of Ford from Mexico.

“With all certainty I can assure you that our clients, here and in the world, will take all the talent of Mexico with them in Ford Bronco Sport,” he said.

After Ford Motors Company invested 1,100 million dollars in the new vehicle platform, the executive of the brand in Mexico stressed that Ford Bronco Sport will not only be assembled in Hermosillo, but that the engineering team was led and integrated by collaborators from the country, who were in charge of making this SUV ready to face all types of terrain. The digital pre-sale of this new member of the Ford Bronco family began on October 23, the day the units of the special launch version were sold out in 8 hours. But, he said “there is still the possibility of acquiring any of the other 4 versions.”
