Ford Motors México began the mass manufacture of the first electric SUV, Mustang Mach E, at the Cuautitlán plant, in the state of Mexico, which will start the export and sales of this model in the country.

With the presence of Alfredo del Mazo, governor of the State of Mexico, the executive director of Ford Mexico, Héctor Pérez, announced the new era for the signing of the blue oval globally in the framework of the 56th anniversary of the plant.
“Mexico is the perfect country to lead this transformation, thanks to the capacity and experience that Mexicans have shown in the design, engineering and manufacture of the brand’s products, we have been selected to revolutionize Ford’s history with the first electric SUV of the brand, just as we revolutionized the automotive industry in the country 95 years ago, and 56 years after celebrating the inauguration of our Cuautitlán plant, ”said Héctor Pérez.
He added that the assembly of a totally electric vehicle is different from that of a combustion one, since the requirements and needs are completely different. This is why the Cuautitlán Izcalli plant, where the Ford Fiesta was produced from 2010 to 2019, carried out an adaptation process of approximately one year in order to integrate new technologies, as well as meet all the requirements to have the complete equipment.
The company reported that for the new assembly the staff received training that allowed them to know each of the processes for the creation of this product, its technology, design and engineering to deliver the most innovative vehicle, with the highest level of characteristic quality. of Mexican talent. Mustang Mach-E, Ford’s first electric SUV, in extended-reach all-wheel drive configurations, ranges from 332 to 459 horsepower and 417 to 612 lb. – foot of torque2.
