FDA Nationalizes Entry Review Program

Effective August 4, 2025, the FDA’s Office of Import Operations (OIO) is launching the Nationalized Entry Review (NER) program. This new program will implement a standardized, efficient, and technology-driven approach to entry reviews across all ports of entry.

The NER program will transition from a port-by-port entry review to a national-based review system. This means that the FDA will conduct entry admissibility reviews on a national basis, utilize staff across multiple time zones, explore automation opportunities, and optimize resource allocation to focus on higher-risk products.

As a reminder, Importers can  track the FDA status of their shipments on Livingston’s Shipment Tracker or FDA’s ITACS. If you have questions on the status of your shipments, please contact your Livingston account representative.
