Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) Negotiations Update

Global Affairs Canada has recently provided an update on the World Trade Organization (WTO) Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) negotiations.

Canada and other World Trade Organization (WTO) members, including China, the European Union, Japan and the United States, are working on negotiations towards a new WTO Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) and hopefully achieve a successful conclusion by end of 2016.
The conclusion of the agreement would increase access to a wide range of environmental goods, such as products related to the production of renewable energy, air-handling equipment, water treatment technologies, waste management or recycling equipment, and environmental and atmospheric monitoring instruments.

Annex C – APEC contains a List of environmental goods that directly and positively contribute to green growth and sustainable development objectives, and the List of additional environmental goods considered in the Consultation.

More information on the Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) is available on Global Affairs Canada’s (GAC) website.
