As Director General of the Marketplace Framework Policy Branch at the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, I am pleased to offer for your comment the attached consultation paper containing proposed amendments to the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations (TLAR). These minor revisions are largely proposed in response to findings by the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations with respect to the scope of regulatory authority granted by the Textile Labelling Act.
We would appreciate receiving any comments you may have by August 31, 2018. While we understand that your organization may very well have other important observations or areas of concern with respect to the TLAR, the Textile Labelling Act or other laws or policies, we note that only feedback with respect to the proposals described in the discussion paper are being considered at this time.
