CITT Order – Safeguard Surtax exclusion inquiry #3 on heavy steel plate & S/S wire

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT), on May 19, 2019, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance began to conduct periodic inquiries regarding exclusion requests concerning certain heavy plate and stainless steel wire which are subject to safeguard surtax measures.

On November 10, 2020, the CITT presented its final report on the third such inquiry.

The Tribunal received a request for exclusion from only one company in this inquiry – Industrial Process Products Ltd (IPP), for certain stainless steel wire.

There were no requests regarding heavy plate.

Based on the information submitted in IPP’s exclusion request, the CITT has recommended that the exclusion request be denied.

Complete details of the inquiry are contained in CITT’s Safeguard Inquiries Report.
