CFIA Safe Food for Canadians -Information on Licensing and Guides

The CFIA has shared a tutorial on the process for obtaining a license under the Safe Food for Canadians Act.

This tutorial is intended to familiarize applicants with the key steps in the Safe Food for Canadians licensing process and better understand the activities and food commodities that fit the needs for their business.

This tutorial generally describes food business activities that can be covered by a SFC licence or licences. There are many combinations of options and thus the examples used in this tutorial may not reflect your business situation.

Industry is responsible for familiarizing themselves with all the requirements of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. Licensing is only one of the key requirements.

A wealth of guidance is available on the CFIA’s website including plain-language guidance and
interactive tools:

On the Licensing landing page CFIA has provided a Safe Food for Canadians licence registry webpage with a list of registered businesses that hold a SFC licence with their licence number and the establishments.
