August 21st 2020 – Delayed Enforcement: Due to the COVID-19 the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) will delay the phase six Lacey Act implementation to give the trade community time to recover from the impacts of the pandemic. A date has not yet been determined when implementation will be mandatory
April 7, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced the implementation of phase six of the Lacey Act enforcement schedule, which will go into effect on October 1, 2020.
APHIS Lacey was deployed in the Automatic Commercial Environment (ACE) in early 2016, and is now adding another phase to its program. Each phase provides for agency enforcement of the required declaration submission in ACE.
This notice services to inform importers of these products to prepare for declaration submission by the enforcement date. In addition, APHIS is inviting public comment on the products covered in this phase (listed below) as well as any other products that should be contemplated at this time. The agency will consider any comments submitted by June 1, 2020.
