Government of Canada initiates SIMA investigation into certain oil country tubular goods

On August 11, 2025, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the launch of a SIMA investigation in respect to the alleged dumping of certain oil country tubular goods originating in or exported Mexico and the Philippines, also in respect to certain exporters exporting the subject goods from Turkey, Korea and the United States. The investigation follows a complaint filed by EVRAZ Inc. NA Canada and Welded Tube of Canada Corporation.

Subsequently, on August 12, 2025, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated a preliminary inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping said goods has caused injury or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers. The CITT is scheduled to make their determination no later than August 25, 2025.
