The Department of Finance is currently reviewing a request for the removal of customs duties on imports of stainless-steel parts used in the manufacture of cookware, and which are classified under Tariff Item No. 7323.93.00 of the Customs Tariff as other stainless-steel table, kitchen, or other household articles and parts thereof, dutiable at 6.5% under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) Tariff.
The applicant claims that these parts are not available from Canadian production, and that tariff relief would enhance its competitiveness in both the domestic and international markets.
