CHICAGO – Livingston International has acquired New Orleans, Louisiana-based MBLX, Inc. and MBLX Resources, LLC (“MBLX”), Livingston’s president and CEO, Peter Luit, announced today.

The acquisition of this barge freight handling and forwarding business gives Livingston additional freight forwarding expertise and a new service offering to present to a growing base of clients in diverse industries.

Formerly affiliated with M.G. Maher and Company, Inc. (“Maher”), acquired by Livingston International in April 2012, “MBLX serves a growing river logistics market in the United States, providing full barge load and less-than-barge load services to companies shipping raw and bulk materials as well as finished products and manufactured goods into and within the U.S.,” said Luit.  “As part of Livingston, MBLX will be able to continue to serve these clients seamlessly and offer them a more robust line of services in North America.”

MBLX will become an important component of Livingston’s international freight forwarding business, now led by former Maher and MBLX president, David Schulingkamp, vice president, international freight forwarding, Livingston U.S.A.  The addition of this business should create new growth opportunities for staff as well as clients.

Established in 1996, MBLX specializes in shipping bulk, break bulk, project cargo, steel and other non-ferrous metal products, heavy manufacturing goods and raw materials.
