FCC Extends Suspension of Form 740 through December 30th for Filings on Imported Radio-Frequency Devices

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has posted to their website an order informing the trade community they have extended through December 30, 2017, the waiver of the requirement for customs brokers and self-filers to file data associated with FCC Form 740 and the importation of Radio Frequency (RF) devices in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).

Specifically, the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) announced this additional extension. The earlier waivers were to expire September 30th.

Earlier this year the agency adopted proposals to eliminate the requirement for Form 740 filings. However, those changes haven not gone into effect yet.

The trade community is reminded this suspension only eliminates the Form 740 filing requirements. All other requirements related to importation and to compliance with equipment authorization rules for radio frequency equipment continue to apply.
