AMS Updates Assessments on Imported Veal

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA)/Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued a final rule that will amend the Beef Promotion and Research Order to increase assessment rates for imported veal and veal products based on revised determinations of live animal equivalencies. The final rule takes effect June 29th.

In order to capture product not previously assessed, this rule will also add Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) numbers (6) to the list of those subject to such assessments.

This rule specifies that imported veal classified under the following HTSUS numbers is subject to the assessments indicated.

$0.01431558 per kg for HTSUS numbers 0201.10.0510; 0201.10.1010; 0201.10.5010; 0201.20.5010; 0201.20.5020; 0202.10.0510; 0202.10.1010; and 0202.10.5010.

$0.02090075 per kg for HTSUS numbers 0201.30.5010; 0201.30.5020; 0202.30.5010; and 0202.30.5020.
