U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a reminder to companies employing Licensed Customs Brokers, that filing of the 2018 Customs Broker Triennial Status Report for all licensed customs brokers opens December 15, 2017, and will continue through 11:59 p.m. EST on February 28, 2018.
As required by law, all Licensed Customs Brokers must file a status report with CBP and pay a processing fee of $100 every three years. In the status report, they must state whether they have engaged in any conduct that could constitute grounds for suspension or revocation of their license, and whether they are ‘actively engaged’ in transacting customs business.
CBP will accept Triennial Reports and fee payment submitted online via Pay.gov. Pay.gov accepts credit card, debit card, and digital wallet (i.e. PayPal and Amazon Pay) payments, with no additional fees charged, providing receipts electronically.
Triennial Status Reports and payment of fees may also be submitted at the CBP Port where the Customs Brokers License was issued, with checks payable to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Failure to file a Triennial Status Report and pay the required fee results in the revocation of a customs broker’s license, by operation of law.
