Sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

Regulations Amending the Regulations Implementing the United Nations Resolutions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have been published in Part II of the Canada Gazette on January 24, 2018.

The amendment to the Regulations adds further sanctions on North Korea. The regulations prohibit exports and imports of various commodities including fuel, oil, gas, and articles of base metal, machinery, luxury goods, vehicles, vessels, fruits, vegetables, textiles, seafood, and many other products. Canada has very limited trade with North Korea and has imposed very strict sanctions since 2011; additional sanctions are expected to have minimal costs or impacts.

Canada’s sanction on North Korea is available on Global Affairs Canada website.
