Consultant

JOB SUMMARY

The Consultant would be part of the Consulting Business Solutions Team providing import and export compliance consulting to clients in varied industries including a focus on aerospace, retail, consumer products, industrial and heavy-equipment.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide guidance and advice regarding interpretation of U.S. import/export related regulations
  • Manage a team of Research Consultants in completing Consulting engagements
  • Provide expert HTSUS and ECCN advice to team and clients
  • Assist with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) verification for clients, including wearing apparel Trade Preference Level
  • Research and/or file Post Entry actions
  • Conduct import compliance and operational assessments, audits and reviews
  • Manage consulting projects as directed by the Practice Leaders
  • Draft internal compliance procedures unique to a client’s operational trade processes
  • Develop import/export compliance forms, tools, templates and performance reports
  • Develop and conduct import/export training programs for management, operational personnel and functional organizations

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade or Business, preferred

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • 5-10 years of import compliance operational experience
  • Specific knowledge of regulatory requirements associated with US imports including:
    • Trade program requirements, especially expertise in determination of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility
    • Country of origin determination and marking requirements
    • Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties
    • Valuation
    • Participating government agency requirements
    • Import/Export Documentary requirements and application
    • Import Classification
      • ECCN Classification experience a plus
    • Broker management
  • Proven ability to apply regulatory requirements to business transactions and to guide and help clients to implement such requirements
  • Solid project management experience and ability to deliver quality work product with aggressive deadlines
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite of tools, especially Access, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in export compliance and a CBP brokerage license is a plus
  • Experience in performing process analysis and design, identifying gaps, making appropriate recommendations, and implementing redesigned processes – preferred
