CITT initiates public interest inquiry on concrete reinforcing bar from China, Korea and Turkey

On January 9, 2015, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (the Tribunal), found that the dumping of rebar, originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Turkey threatened to cause injury to the domestic industry.

On April 27, 2015, the Tribunal advised that they are initiating a public interest inquiry in order to determine whether the imposition of anti-dumping and countervailing duties is in the public interest.

The subject goods are described as hot-rolled deformed steel concrete reinforcing bar in straight lengths or coils, commonly identified as rebar, in various diameters up to and including 56.4 millimeters, in various finishes, excluding plain round bar and fabricated rebar products.

Any firm wishing to participate as a party in the public interest inquiry and at the hearing must file a notice of participation with the Tribunal no later than May 19, 2015.

Parties that wish to file submissions supporting a reduction or an elimination of anti-dumping and countervailing duties must do so no later than June 25, 2015. Parties wishing to file submissions opposing a reduction or an elimination of anti-dumping and countervailing duties must do so no later than July 6, 2015.

The notice of participation and submissions should be sent to:
