CFIA Consultation on the Proposed Amendments to Regulations on Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPS)

On October 21, 2017 the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) launched a public consultation on proposed amendments to the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations, which would allow Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs) to be issued to food businesses that do not comply with certain provisions of the Safe Food for Canadians Act and proposed Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.

During the 60-day consultation period, the CFIA will host webinars to help food businesses understand the role that AMPs will play as an additional enforcement response within the Agency’s compliance continuum.

Food businesses and consumers are encouraged to sign up for a web-based information session to learn more about the proposed regulatory amendments.Webinars are being held in November, register here.
